GDC: Millions from Facebook Games

[LINK] GamesIndustry.biz: Money from Facebook Games

Today in gaming: GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that one of the many surprising facts to come out of GDC this week has to do with Facebook games. Over 100 game development companies have earned over a million dollars in advertising revenues by developing social games on Facebook -- a total of $2.8 billion US in 2012 alone.

Mind you, this is literally game developers farming humans for ad revenue -- roughly 20% of the daily audience who use Facebook, use it to play games.

Currently, Facebook games are based around the causal gamer market, but the powers that be at Facebook have said openly that they're looking to develop relationships and software for core gamers to bolster this system.
